Defense Drill 3: Cass Innova (Backcheck)

Purpose

Teach player to pick offensive player up and stay on defensive side to eliminate scoring chance.

Description

X1 skates the pattern and X2 must backcheck X1 to the net.

Coach tries to get pass to X1 for scoring chance.

Key Teaching Points

X2 must maintain scoring speed.

X2 must keep good position (defensive side) and tie up X1's stick.

Variations

• Do from both sides.
• Add 2 on 2.
