Transition Drill 7: Easter Parade

Purpose

Quick up by defense with some forechecking pressure.

Description

X2 passes to defense who pivots and uses boards for outlet pass.

X1 pressure defense to force board pass.

After pass, X2 skates to open ice for quick transition.

Key Teaching Points

Accelerate to open space.

Not tape to tape -- but tape to space.

Variations

• X1 can become backchecker.
• Defense can follow pass up, then play 1 on 1 with X1 who gets pass from coach.
