The Collins/Moylan Arena in Greenfield, Massachusetts will be holding its Third Annual Girls/Women's Ice Hockey Clinic on Saturday, October 30 from 3:30 - 6:50 PM. The clinic is to include 3.5 hours of on & off ice skills development instruction, power skating, goalie instruction, and a 50 minute scrimmage. Clinic Schedule 3:30-4:00 Registration & Questions 4:00-4:50 Skating, Basic Skills, Power Skating 4:50-5:00 Intermission 5:00-5:50 Position, Team Skills, Power Skating 5:50-6:00 Intermission 6:00-6:50 Scrimmage Clinic Coaching Staff Kay Cowperthwait Kay coached the Varsity women's Ice Hockey team at Amherst College from 1997-2003, during which time the Amherst team qualified for the postseason in 2002 and 2003. Before coming to Amherst, Kay coached the Stamford University Women's Varsity Lacrosse team for 3 years and led the team to a Western Women's Lacrosse League title in 1995. Kay also played and coached in the Northern California Women's Ice Hockey League for 6 years. A 1991 graduate of Colby College, Kay was a two-time Captain and MVP on the Varsity Women's Ice Hockey team. She was also named an ECAC All-Star her senior year. Kay was also a captain of the Varsity lacrosse team at Colby, where she earned MVP honors as a junior and senior. She presently is the player-coach of the Pioneer Valley Vipers Senior Women's Hockey Team. Christa Talbot Christa is currently the head coach of the Williston Northampton School Girl's Varsity Ice Hockey team. Christa graduated from Providence College in 2002, and she then spent a year as the assistant hockey coach at Hamilton College. In 2003, Christa came to Williston where she served as the assistant coach for the Varsity Girls team, and this year she will take over the head coaching position. Christa is also a graduate of the Williston Northampton School and she then attended Providence College. While at Providence, Christa was the assistant Captain of a team that won the ECAC championship in 2002. Merribeth Morin Merribeth has been an ice hockey goaltender for close to twenty years. She played for the RPI Women's ice hockey team during college. In her last year of play, she was awarded the Most Valuable Player award. While undertaking graduate work at Cornell University, she volunteered her time as the goaltending coach for the varsity Women's ice hockey team. While living in Boston she played in the South Shore Women's hockey league playing for teams in Assabet and Marlboro. After a year off from competitive hockey, she returned to the league playing for the Springfield team. While playing for Springfield, the team won the Senior B National Championship for the 1996/1997 hockey season. Merribeth is currently affiliated with the Vipers hockey program based in Greenfield, MA. Kerry Togneri Kerry has an accomplished background specializing in powerskating instruction for both hockey players and figure skaters. Her experience has included working with skaters and teams from youth through high school levels throughout Massachusetts. Kerry has worked with both individuals and teams including the Boston Bruins Junior Ice Hockey team over the past 22 years.
