There are now two women's ice hockey team's in Scotland . One is the now renamed Paisley Scorpion's and a new team that has formed called the Caledonian Hellcats who play out of Dumfries Ice Bowl .
Unlike in Canada, hockey is a minority sport in Scotland and as for women's hockey, well! Many people still do not agree with women playing it (I don't know if they are afraid of the competition). Ice time remains a problem and we are still practising on a Saturday night at 23.15hrs . The Caledonian Hellcat's recently started this year and we are a committed group of girl's . We must be as we drive for an hour and a half just to play hockey and then arrive home at 03.30 on Sunday morning . A superb coach has helped to make us into a team that is becoming a force to be reckoned with .
Scotland's national team will soon be playing games at the International level . Sponsorship is also a problem as it is difficult to give money to such a minority sport any idea's or Sponsorship will be gratefully received .
As our male teams are getting more crowds to watch them, we are seeing more girls interested in the sport which can only be for the good. Keep up the good work, girls.
