Canada Winter Games

The first Canada Games took place in Quebec City during the winter of 1967 and were designed to coincide with the 100th Anniversary of Canadian Confederation. The Canada Games have been held at two year intervals, alternating winter and summer. The Games have been hosted by each of the ten provinces at least once.

Female hockey gained entry into the Canada Winter Games at the 1991 games in Summerside PEI. Female hockey in the Canada Winter games is for competitors who are under the age of 18 years, as of the December 31 before the games. Competitors can range in age from 11-18.
