Christmas 2020
Hi Everyone!
We would like to wish you all a very
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Despite the fact that our kids' favourite joke lately has been to open a very rotten avocado,
and say, "if 2020 was an avocado, this is what it would look like,"
there were some silver
linings to 2020 for our family. Things slowed down at the Ouellette/Hunter house.
The kids have been taking school online since March 2020, and Marc has been working from home.
Hockey and other programs came to a halt in March, and we found that we had more time for
other things. We had more time for free play, crafts, and games. We got some new tree swings
for our backyard, and set up a Ninja line. Célia had time to design clothing, patterns, and
sew them up. Rémy and mommy had time to go biking and play inline hockey on the street in
front of our house. Camille had time for her knitting, sewing, crafts and drawings.
Marc participated in the Leahy Virtual Music Camp, and had time to collaborate with others on a
couple of songs and create videos to share:

We also had more time at home for those projects for which you can never find enough time. Andria digitized 17
years worth of Portrait Studio photos to create a digital photo album for each kid, and finally put these photos into hardcover photo albums. We built a new fence in our backyard, converted an old Ikea couch into a table, and did some maintenance projects at the cottage.
We had originally planned to go on a trip to the Canadian east coast this past summer, but we put our plans on hold because of Covid.
We spent a couple of weeks at our family cottage in the Kawarthas instead. We did take one family trip to Montreal in mid-February on the team bus for Rémy's hockey tournament.
Speaking of Rémy's hockey, he is excited to be on a team in the GTHL A league this season. He joined a few of his former Mimico teammates on the Duffield Devils Minor Bantam A team.
They had been training once per week since August, with only 9 players allowed on the ice at a time. As Toronto went back to Covid lockdown in November, practices have been put on hold for now. Fortunately, the outdoor rinks are open at reduced capacity for public skating, so we having been taking advantage of it.
Our two pets are appreciating the increased level of attention they have been getting during the pandemic. Our black kitty, Simba, will be 3 in January. Do-Do the bunny is 9.5 years old. We appreciate the extra years we've gotten with him, as this breed
generally has a 6 to 8 year lifespan. He
is still pretty spry and loves to run around in our backyard and basement.

Noël 2020
Bonjour à tous et à toutes,
Nous aimerions tout d’abord vous offrir nos meilleurs vœux pour un très

ainsi qu’une Bonne, Heureuse et Sainte
Année 2021!
Malgré que la blague préférée de nos enfants est d'ouvrir un avocat pourri et de dire "si 2020 était un avocat, voici ce qu'il aurait l'air ", l'année
2020 eu tout de même de bons moments pour notre famille, avec un rythme de vie moins effréné.
Les enfants fréquentent l'école virtuelle depuis le mois de mars, et Marc travaille à partir de la maison. Le hockey et autres activités organisées ont cessé
depuis le mois de mars, et nous avons
trouvé le temps de faire autre chose, comme des jeux non planifiés, et du bricolage. Nous avons installé de nouvelles balançoires ainsi qu'une ligne Ninja dans notre cour. Célia a créé et découpé ses propres
patrons, et cousu ses propres vêtements, Rémy et Andria ont joué au hockey au patin à roues alignées dans la rue, et fait du vélo ensemble. Camille a fait beaucoup de couture, de tricot, de bricolage et de dessin.
Marc a participé au camp de musique virtuel Leahy, et collaboré virtuellement pour créer quelques vidéos musicaux :

Nous avons aussi meublé le temps avec des projets que nous n'avions jamais le temps de faire. Andria a digitalisé 17 ans de photos de studio des enfants, et créé des albums virtuels et réels pour chaque enfant. Nous avons
remplacé la vieille clôture, converti un vieux divan Ikea en table, ainsi que fait quelques projets d'entretien au chalet Hunter dans les Kawarthas.
Nous avions prévu faire un voyage dans les maritimes pendant l'été, mais la pandémie a bousillé nos plans. Au lieu, nous avons passé quelques semaines au chalet Hunter, et le restant du temps ici à Mimico. Notre seul voyage fut à Montréal à la mi-février en autobus pour un tournoi de hockey de l'équipe de Rémy.
En parlant du hockey de Rémy, il est excité de jouer au hockey pour une équipe de niveau A dans la GTHL cette année. Il s'est joint à quelque uns de ses anciens
co-équipiers de Mimico sur l'équipe des Devils de Duffield. Ils s'entraînaient depuis le mois d'août avec seulement 9 joueurs à la fois, mais l'équipe a dû suspendre ses activités au mois de novembre à cause de la deuxième vague de la pandémie.
Heureusement, les patinoires extérieures sont ouvertes, mais avec un nombre limité de participants, alors les enfants en profitent pour faire du patinage libre assez régulièrement.
Notre lapin Dodo et notre chat Simba font l'objet de beaucoup plus d'attention durant cette pandémie! Simba aura 3 ans en janvier, et Dodo a eu 9 ans au mois d'août! Nous savourons ces années de longévité
pour celui-ci, puisque ce type de lapin a une espérance de vie
d'environ 6 à 8 ans. Il est en bonne forme, et adore gambader dans la cour arrière et dans notre sous-sol!
