Christmas 2007

Hi Everyone!

We'd like to start by wishing you a very Merry Christmas, as well as a happy, healthy, & peaceful new year for 2008! The year 2007 was filled with both happy and sad moments for us. Without a doubt, the happiest event was the birth of our third child, Rémy Gilbert Ouellette! He was born November 6th, weighing 8 pounds, 7 ounces, and measuring 21 inches long. Rémy is generally a quiet and good natured little boy. Célia is gradually adapting to having a little brother around! :-) You can view a web page with photos at www.whockey.com/am.

Speaking of Célia, she celebrated her 4th birthday October 9th, and has already started school. She is in Junior Kindergarten (full days, 5 days per week) at the Sainte-Marguerite d'Youville french school, and her teacher is Monsieur Chris. She likes school and enjoys taking the school bus. Besides school, she enjoys several other activities such as swimming, skating, gymnastics, dancing, playing cats, and making crafts at home with elastics, rubber bands, and twist ties!

In July, we quietly celebrated the 1st birthday of our daughter Joséphine, who would have been 1 year old on July 11th. On July 28th, we planted a cherry tree in our back yard in memory of Joséphine. We miss her a lot and will always love her.

As for us, Andria returned to work in January, and worked many long hours to create a brand new Computer Science course at the University of Toronto. She started teaching the course in September. She is now very happy to be on a 1-year Maternity leave, since Rémy's birth at the beginning of November. In June, she was honoured with her induction into the Peterborough and District Sports Hall of Fame, for her ice hockey and inline hockey career with Team Canada.

Marc still enjoys working at Autodesk. When Rémy was born he was able to take 2 months of vacation, and will return to work in early January. It was nice to have this time to spend with the new baby and to enjoy Christmas. For the second time, Marc claimed the AFLOP championship, a friendly No Limit Texas Hold'Em poker league.

We took several trips this year, including a trip to Kapuskasing in May and again in October. Believe it or not, it snowed both times! On our first trip, we celebrated the 84th birthday of grand-papa (grandpa) Gilbert, Marc's father. Unfortunately, we had to return in the fall because grand-papa passed away on October 11th. He suffered a lot with the after-effects of shingles, and he really missed his dear wife Adéla, who died in 2004 -- we are consoled that his suffering is over now, but we still miss him a lot. Célia really loved to talk on the telephone with her grand-papa Gilbert. We were also saddened by the death of Marc's Aunt Lucienne in July.

At the beginning of August we went to our friends' cottage, where Célia impressed us with her fishing skills, by catching a Bass that was more than 20 inches long! Towards the end of August, Marc and Célia went to Montréal by train, to visit her godfather Pierre Poulin, and to do a little tourism. The highlight was visiting the penguins at the Biodôme. It was a fun trip, but it would have been even more fun if Mommy could have joined us, but she was too busy with her work.

In September, Marc's sister, Raymonde, and her husband, Marcel Savoie, celebrated the birth of their second child, a son named Benoît, born September 14th. There is less than 2 months between him and Rémy. Marc is thrilled that the two cousins are both Habs fans already!

Noël 2007

Bonjour à tous!

Nous aimerions tout d'abord vous souhaiter un très Joyeux Noël ainsi qu'une Bonne, Heureuse, et Sainte Année 2008! L'année 2007 fut remplie de moments douloureux et de moments joyeux pour nous. Le plus joyeux fut sans aucun doute l'arrivée de notre troisième enfant, Rémy Gilbert Ouellette! Il est né le 6 novembre, pesant 8 livres et 7 onces, et mesurant 21 pouces. Rémy est un petit garçon généralement tranquille et de bonne humeur. Célia s'adapte assez bien a l'arrivée de son petit frère :-) Vous pouvez voir d'autres photos de Rémy sur notre page web à l'adresse www.whockey.com/am.

En parlant de Célia, elle a célébré ses 4 ans le 9 octobre, et a déja commencé l'école. Elle est à la maternelle toute la journée à l'école Sainte-Marguerite d'Youville dans la classe de M. Chris. Célia aime bien ça, ainsi que de prendre l'autobus scolaire le matin et le soir! A part l'école, elle aime bien plusieurs autres activités, comme ses cours de natation, de gymnastique, de danse, le patinage, ainsi que faire du bricolage avec des élastiques, du ruban gommé, et des liens torsadés!

Au mois de juillet, nous avons célébré tranquillement le premier anniversaire de la naissance de notre fille Joséphine, qui aurait eu 1 an le 11 juillet. Le 28 juillet, nous avons planté un cerisier en sa mémoire. Joséphine nous manque énormément, et nous l'aimerons toujours.

Pour ce qui est de nous, Andria est retournée au travail au mois de janvier, et a travaillé des heures interminables pour créer un nouveau cours d'informatique à l'université de Toronto, qu'elle a enseigné cet automne. Elle est maintenant très contente d'être en congé de maternité depuis la naissance de Rémy au mois de novembre! Au mois de juin elle a reçu un grand honneur, en étant intronisée au temple de la renomée du sport de Peterborough, sa ville natale, pour sa carrière avec Équipe Canada, au hockey sur glace ainsi qu'au hockey en patins à roues alignées.

Marc aime toujours bien son travail à Autodesk, et il a pu prendre deux mois de congé lors de l'arrivée de Rémy! Il a aussi remporté pour la deuxième fois le championnat de l'AFLOP, une ligue amicale de poker style «No Limit Texas Hold'Em».

Nous avons fait quelques voyages cette année, dont deux à Kapuskasing, soit au mois de mai et au mois d'octobre. Fait cocasse, il a neigé les deux fois! Lors du premier voyage, nous avons eu l'occasion de célébrer le 84e anniversaire de grand-papa Gilbert, le père de Marc. Malheureusment, nous avons dû y retourner cet automne, car grand-papa Gilbert est décédé le 11 octobre. Il souffrait beaucoup des séquelles du zona, et s'ennuyait beaucoup de sa chère épouse Adéla, décédée en 2004 -- nous nous consolons du fait qu'il ne souffre plus maintenant, mais il nous manque quand même beaucoup. Célia aimait bien parlé au télépone avec son grand-papa Gilbert. Nous furent aussi triste d'apprendre le décès de tante Lucienne au mois de juillet.

Au début du mois d'août, nous sommes allés au chalet de nos amis, où Célia nous a bien impressioné avec ses talents de pêcheuse, en attrapant un poisson mesurant plus de 20 pouces! Vers la fin août, Marc et Célia ont fait un voyage en train à Montréal, pour rendre visite à son parrain Pierre Poulin, et faire un peu de tourisme. Ce fut très amusant, sauf que malheureusement, Andria n'a pas pu venir à cause de son travail.

Cet automne, la soeur de Marc, Raymonde, ainsi que son mari, Marcel Savoie, ont eu aussi célébré la naissance d'un fils, soit Benoît, né le 14 septembre. Il n'y a que deux mois de différence entre lui et Rémy, et ils sont déja d'ardents partisans du bleu, blanc, rouge, au grand plaisir de Marc!!

En terminant, nous aimerions de nouveau souhaiter à tous et à toutes un joyeux temps des fêtes, ainsi que nos meilleurs voeux de Bonheur et de Santé pour la nouvelle année!
